I am now officially offering super awesome super8 film! The film is so beautiful, the colors and the feel is so emotional, you cant help it. There is something about when you watch super8 film that just tugs at the heart. Mine anyway :) All last wedding season I took along my super8 camera to weddings and just tested and played.(it had been awhile since film school) Now a nostalgic chic film is available as an add-on or full-on option for you! Here is a trailer from Brianna and Eric's wedding in super8...

Breitenbush hot springs

For my sisters birthday we are retreating to Britenbush in the mountains. I hear it is a magical place. I feel like a bit of that! I am taking my cameras (like 4) yikes! I can't wait to shoot some super8 film and some TTV shots too.
Oh yeah, my sister Bridget and I are in the process of revamping the Expectations logo, biz cards, brochures and website. Its crazy, but its going to be awesome! I'll post it as soon as they are done.
Just realized that I hadn't posted the trailer from Ryan and Emily's wedding yet, and its fabulous, mostly because they are! What a fun couple and they surround themselves with fun friends and family too!

Love is so sweet.

One reason I completely enjoy filming weddings is because I am always surrounded by sweet and happy LOVE. I pretty much cry at every wedding. It must be the romantic in me...guess I like that part. The wedding I just finished for Brianna and Erik was one of those. They are really one of the happiest couples ever! They are so great together. I came up with a theme for their wedding story, "Better Together" and used it as the basis for the entire edit. I think it really tells their story.

Re-frame New Orleans

Just sitting here thinking about how different Sisters, Oregon is then New Orleans, Louisiana. Here the aspens are changing colors and the temperature is dropping. There it was balmy and crowded and wild and a bit stinky. But what a beautiful place too so much history and interesting architecture. I took a million photos. Met up with a little over 50 wedding filmmakers. They were all so great and we were all so excited to share and learn and just have a laugh or too. I have returned with so many new ideas. I will be offering more Super 8 films and can't wait to have more of this. The entire week was a complete blast. I am reeling...

Prairie dress

Found this beautiful prairie dress at the Goodwill today and put it on Willa. She looked so sweet. I love Goodwill. I was there looking of an old twin reflex camera to try a technique I am interested in called through the viewfinder or TvT. I have tried all 4 thriftshops in town. There is one waiting for me somewhere out there I just know it...
Just finished a new wedding, I am really happy with this one. It feels so close to the real people and it was beautiful!

peaceful lakes, friendship and family

Sun reflecting off the lake causing colors to change blue, grey, green, white, iridescent. Finn splashing with his feet across the beach in front of me, followed by Bela and George.
"Mama, where are you" Willa comes down the beach to my chair in the sand carrying 3 books. "I'll sit here on your lap" she says. One book is enough though and then she is off to search for her friend Bela. I realize that right here in this moment life is amazing. Look around, even the shadow of my pen touching the paper is spectacular. Peace, stillness with the reminder of human life every now and again. Now is all there ever is. I am so glad!

Music mania

Sisters Folk Festival, wow, am I tired. What a wonderful fest this year. We had great weather and great music and great people. I was documenting the fest for the fest and pretty much saw every single act. The standouts for me: The Waifs, such beautiful music which gave me the goosebumps and made me cry! Keith Greeninger is always amazing live and fun dancing too! Stonehoney, super nice guys that know how to make music. OK, back to editing weddings for now...

Docfarm

Wow, my sister and I just returned from a documentary filmmaker retreat near Arlington, WA called Docfarm and it was so amazing in so many ways. We met some great people from all different backgrounds and interests which made the experience very rich. The event took place on the Smoke farm a rustic beautiful 300 acre farm with the Stilliquamish River flowing through the land. We gave a showing of some clips from our doc work in progress called Rubber ear and got amazing feedback. We left inspired and fulfilled. Wonderful experience. Can't wait to keep up the relationships with all these wonderful filmmakers!
We shot Erin and Chris' wedding yesterday and it was so cool, literally we froze, but her parents raided the closets and brought out arm loads of winter coats. So we bundled up and danced the night away to a great band Mango Fish trap. So much fun! They played the love story video we produced during the reception and it was a fun tear jerker.

Light and Dark

Well, just set up the self timer and took this self portrait. I am not so sure what the dark face signifies but I love the curtain pattern. Just exploring light and dark. I am uploading Victoria and Derek's wedding into my editing system and just killing time until I can start the editing fun!

springtime=snow??

Wow, we have 2 inches of snow on the ground here. I am trying to remind myself of the beauty of white but so ready for other colors!
My sister, Bridget and I just co-produced a 5 minute documentary for the International Documentary Challenge (5 days to do it all!) Turned out cool, I think. Its about storage units! Was a big fun challenge.

Beauty

What is art? Guess that is up to each person to decide. For me right now it means exploring what I am drawn too. I am interested in human nature, the way we humans interact with each other. I find these interactions beautiful and a challenge to show in film. Everyday normalness is intriguing to me.

Snow and water

The new year has begun and it is crazy already. We stayed in a cabin in the mountains and it was so amazingly beautiful! So much snow and shoveling and sledding and skiing and friends and laughter and now sore muscles and much dirty laundry. But so worth it!
We began production on our next Documentary which involved underwater shooting. It was a first for me shooting video underwater and it was so fun. I absolutely loved it and want to do more... The shoot went really well and we will begin shooting the interviews next week. Should be a really interesting process.
Happy new year!
